Edit and reuse sections

Configure components, share saved sections, and detach local copies when needed.

A section is a component your development team makes available to the editor. Its schema determines the text, images, links, lists, and data inputs you can configure.

Configure a section

  1. Open a page in Preview or Content → Pages.
  2. Add a component from the catalog or select an existing section.
  3. Fill its required fields and inspect the preview.
  4. Wait for autosave before switching contexts or publishing.

Use the section's actions to duplicate or remove it. Reorder the list to change page composition. Removing a section from a page is different from deleting a saved block used elsewhere.

Make content reusable

Use Make reusable to save a section with a meaningful block name. The page then references the saved block. Find saved sections under Content → Advanced → Sections and reuse them on other pages.

For example, saving a campaign banner as summer-banner lets several pages share the same configuration. Editing that saved banner changes every page referencing it after publication.

If only one page should differ, use Detach on that reference to create local content before editing. Duplicating a page does not automatically make all its shared references independent.

When a field is missing

The editor can configure the fields supplied by the site. Ask a developer to update the component's typed props and generated schema when a new field is needed. Adding a component in code and configuring its saved content are separate operations.

Finish with Publish changes; inspect affected pages when you change shared sections.
